What is Power Training?

Updated: Feb 28, 2022

As a general rule, power training usually consists of exercises that use the most force as quickly as possible. This is because strength + speed = power.

With power training, you can do things like jump with weights or throw weights. Clean and jerks, for example, may also be called "power training exercises" because they require a lot of speed to do.

This is because they require a lot of speed to do. Power training may also include exercises like heavy lifts and plyometrics, which are called "complex training," in an effort to combine the most powerful lifting with the most dynamic moves.

This combination of a high-strength exercise and a high-speed exercise may help you use more power. A lot of people who do power training focus on two physiological processes that go up at the same time during exercise.
